Create a New Project

This guide walks you through the essential steps for creating a project in the Data Catalog. Creating a project is simple, but the form includes many fields/questions. To help you navigating easily, we’ve grouped the questions into five categories. These do not appear as a section on the Data Catalog page, but are here to help you understand and locate the information more easily.

Step 1: Navigate to the Project Creation Page

Click the Create new project located under the search bar, in the welcome page.

Step 2: Fill out Project Info

Use the categories below to guide you through the questions.

a.”Basic” Information:

  • Project Name and Description

  • Technologies used

  • Data types

  • Storage location

b. Project Structure & Contributors:

  • Person responsible for long-term data preservation and deletion

  • Scientific Documents to be generated

  • Access During & After Completion

  • Collaborators: name, role, email, ORCID

  • Benchling Project Link (if applicable)

c. Compliance:

  • Use of existing data

  • Biological materials

  • Medicines or radioactive substances
